    Emerging Professionals Intern Program Career Opportunities 

    OCTA’s Emerging Professionals Intern Program is a year-round paid student/intern program. You’ll gain real world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of a transportation professional. You’ll have the opportunity to use problem solving, communication and decision-making skills as you gain valuable experience.

    As an Emerging Professional, you’ll gain deeper awareness of transportation’s many facets through your OCTA orientation and working with teams on cross-divisional projects. You’ll also work with a mentor and benefit from professional and career advice and be given personal support. Through your assignments, you’ll have the opportunity to develop professional contacts and begin networking within the transportation industry.

    At OCTA, career opportunities are as diverse as the residents of Orange County. OCTA may have Emerging Professional internship opportunities in Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Transit or Project Management, just to name a few.

    Program Information

    As an Emerging Professional at OCTA, your pay will vary depending on your educational level. Your work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a rolling 12-month period.

    To be eligible for the program you must:

    • Be a full-time student enrolled in a two-year or four-year college program and following a course of study leading to a Bachelors or Masters degree, with emphasis in a field pertinent to the hiring department’s business
    • Submit verification of enrollment from the college registrar’s office to establish a pay rate based on academic standing and eligibility to participate in the intern program
    • Provide verification of enrollment each semester or quarter
    • Maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5
