Background
Over the past few years Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has taken initiative in bettering active transportation facilities in Orange County with projects such as the Regional Bikeway Strategies, Pedestrian Action Plan, and the OC Loop Advancement. Active transportation promotes healthy, happy lifestyles and a more sustainable mode of transportation.
This is why OCTA is preparing for OC Active—Orange County's Bike and Pedestrian Plan, a project that aims to recognize the areas and opportunities of improvement for active transportation countywide. This in turn will make active transportation a more reliable mode of transportation within Orange County. The estimated 18 month project began in March of 2017 with an established set of goals to serve as the guidelines for the preparation and implementation of the project.
Community Involvement
The public outreach approach for OC Active includes attending community events to encourage participation from a broad and diverse audience. The overall community engagement will influence the technical analysis on bicycle and pedestrian advancements countywide.
