Let’s Take a Ride to the Mission

What better way to explore Oceanside than on a bike! Once you arrive in Oceanside, chow down on a delicious lunch from a local eatery, and then rent a bike for the day! Oceanside is home to Mission San Luis Rey (1789), King of the Missions. This historic landmark offers visitors a unique glimpse back in time to when the Spanish settlers first arrived along the California coast.

Itinerary

  1. Grab a bite to eat and “carb up” for your ride out to Mission San Luis Rey.

  2. Located at the base of the Oceanside Pier is Wheel Fun Rentals. Rent a bike and request the self-guided map so that you can explore along the San Luis Rey River Trail (a class 1 bike path), which will lead you to Mission San Luis Rey, approximately 8 miles from the Oceanside Pier.

  3. Explore this historic Mission San Luis Rey and visit the on-sight museum to learn more about the native inhabitants and artifacts.

  4. Stop by San Luis Rey Bakery Restaurant for a traditional Mexican treat before riding back to downtown Oceanside.
