  • Mobility Management Program

  • The Mobility Management Program educates seniors and persons with disabilities about traveling by public transportation.

A free program is available to assist with travel on public buses. Available in two formats, group and individual, the hands-on program covers everything riders need to know to make each trip successful.

In addition, the program provides mobility resources to help seniors and persons with disabilities research and compare transportation services to find the services that best fit their needs.

    Group Travel Training

Offered for groups of 10 to 20, the program is held on location and consists of a classroom and an optional Trip of the Day on a local route.

    Classroom training includes:

    • How to read a bus schedule and plan a trip
    • Fares and reduced fare options
    • How to safely board and exit a bus
    • ADA accessibility standards and using mobility devices
    • Interactive activities and prizes

Trip of the Day (optional) includes:

    • Travel on a local route
    • Experience riding the bus with on-board instruction
    • Explore the local neighborhood
    • Learn to identify bus by head sign, board, signal stop and exit bus
    • Discuss next steps in how to find transit in your area

    Small Group/Individual Travel Training

Offered for individuals or groups of 2 to 4, this expanded program offers more individualized instruction from a dedicated travel instructor and includes a bus trip chosen by participants. Training may take up to 5 days of instruction, depending on trip destination and the understanding and comfort level of the riders.

    Your instructor will:

    • Meet to discuss your experience with transit, any limitations or hesitations, and your independence goals
    • Provide information regarding reduced fares, local routes, trip planning and ADA accessibility transit standards
    • Help choose a destination, identify the route and decide on a time to meet again and ride the bus together
    • Meet on the day of the training to discuss transit navigation skill such as reading a schedule and identifying the correct bus. You will ride the bus route together.
